Presidential Pardon Granted To 61 Prisoners For Vesak Festival :33 To Be Released Today

COLOMBO (News 1st);Presidential pardon has been granted to 61 prisoners in view of this year's Vesak festival.

Prison Commissioner and Media Spokesperson, A.C. Gajanayake, said that presidential pardon was granted to the prisoners in accordance with the powers vested in the President under Article 34 of the Constitution.

Accordingly, he said that 33 inmates are scheduled to be released today.
