Prison Escapee Drowns After Jumping Into Mahaweli River

Colombo(News 1st); A suspect who attempted to escape from prison and jumped into the Mahaweli River has drowned and is now missing.

Police said the incident involved a suspect held at the Pallekele Open Prison Camp.

The missing individual is a 39-year-old resident of Seeduwa.

According to police, search operations are currently underway to locate the escaped suspect.
