100 Drunk Drivers Nabbed in Massive Police Sweep

COLOMBO (News 1st); A total of 704 suspects have been arrested during a nationwide anti-crime and narcotics operation conducted by Sri Lanka Police, authorities confirmed.

The operation, carried out the day before, involved the inspection of 25,503 individuals across various regions. 

Among those arrested were 29 suspects directly linked to criminal activities, 203 individuals with outstanding arrest warrants, and 107 with open warrants.

Additionally, 100 intoxicated drivers were taken into custody during the operation.

Police stated that the initiative is part of an ongoing effort to curb criminal activity and drug-related offenses across the island.
