COLOMBO (News 1st); The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption has stated that former President Mahinda Rajapaksa has yet to submit a sworn declaration detailing his assets, expenditures, and sources of income.
The Commission warned that if the relevant sworn declaration is not submitted by the day after tomorrow, or before that date, legal action will be initiated under the provisions of the Anti‑Corruption Act.
According to the Commission, Rajapaksa was officially informed through a letter dated the 23rd of last month to submit the required sworn declaration within 14 days. This request relates to an investigation initiated into his assets for the year 2015, for which he has so far failed to provide the necessary declaration.
The letter further states that the deadline granted for the submission of the sworn declaration will not be extended under any circumstances.
