COLOMBO (News 1st): Sri Lanka has recorded a significant rise in foreign remittances during the first four months of 2026, with earnings reaching approximately US$3.06 billion, according to the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment.
The figure marks a notable increase compared to the same period in 2025, when remittances stood at around US$2.4 billion.
The rise comes despite ongoing geopolitical tensions in parts of the Middle East, a region that hosts a significant proportion of Sri Lanka’s migrant workforce.
