20 Statements Recorded By Special PCoI On Coal Procurement

COLOMBO (News 1st): Statements have been recorded from about 20 officials by the Presidential Commission appointed to investigate coal transactions.

Its Secretary, P.V. Bandulasena, stated that arrangements will be made to examine evidence at the end of next month.

Accordingly, the number of complaints received by the commission stands at 28.

Chaired by Supreme Court Judge Gihan Kulatunga, the other members of this fully-empowered Presidential Commission are Court of Appeal Judge Aditya Patabendige and High Court Judge Sanjeewa Somaratne.

Meanwhile, the General Secretary of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP), Tilvin Silva, has appeared before the Presidential Commission appointed to investigate coal transactions.

This was in accordance with a notification issued by the commission.

The commission stated that the summons was issued after considering complaints received from several parties regarding a statement made by Tilvin Silva.

The commission further mentioned that a statement was recorded from him regarding the alleged remarks.
