COLOMBO (News1st);The Paddy Marketing Board states that 64,838 metric tons of paddy have been purchased so far.
The board mentioned that these paddy purchases were made from 32,215 farmers across 19 districts.
The highest stock of paddy was purchased from the Ampara and Anuradhapura districts.
The Paddy Marketing Board also stated that an amount of 7.9 billion rupees has been spent on paddy purchases to date.
According to the Paddy Marketing Board, paddy purchasing is currently being carried out only in the Mannar, Polonnaruwa, Kandy, and Badulla districts.
The government purchases Nadu paddy at 120 rupees per kilogram, Samba at 130 rupees per kilogram, and Keeri Samba at 140 rupees per kilogram.
