CIABOC Concludes Preliminary Probe Against Manusha

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) today informed the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court that preliminary investigations into the case filed against former Foreign Employment Minister Manusha Nanayakkara have been completed.

The update was provided before Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama when the case was taken up in court.

During the proceedings, representatives of the Bribery Commission requested a future date to inform court of the legal action to be pursued, stating that the preliminary investigations relating to the matter had now been concluded.

After considering the submissions, the Chief Magistrate ordered that further reports be presented on December 18.

Former Minister Manusha Nanayakkara, who has been arrested in connection with the corruption-related allegations and subsequently released on bail, appeared before open court during today's proceedings.

The case originates from allegations that, during the tenure of the previous government, the former minister improperly used his position while facilitating the deployment of Sri Lankan workers to Israel for agricultural employment.

According to the allegations under investigation, Nanayakkara is accused of exerting influence over officials of the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment in relation to the incident.
