COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka Cricket held high-level discussions with International Cricket Council Chairman Jay Shah and Board of Control for Cricket in India Secretary Devajit Saikia during their brief visit to Colombo today, focusing on governance reforms and the future direction of the sport in the country.
The meeting, described as cordial and constructive, centred on the current state of cricket administration in Sri Lanka and the progress made by the committee tasked with overseeing the ongoing governance transition process.
Officials engaged in detailed discussions on efforts taken to strengthen administrative structures and ensure improved transparency within the sport’s governing body.
During the discussions, Sri Lanka Cricket provided a comprehensive update on the steps implemented to enhance governance standards and advance the reform agenda. The visiting delegation was also briefed on the work currently underway to introduce constitutional and administrative changes aimed at ensuring long-term stability and good governance within the organisation.
A key focus of the meeting was the roadmap for completing the reform process, with Sri Lanka Cricket sharing indicative timelines for the transition back to a duly elected administration in accordance with the applicable legal and constitutional framework. The ICC delegation was informed of the milestones achieved so far and the systems being put in place to ensure a smooth and transparent transition.
ICC Chairman Jay Shah welcomed the update provided by Sri Lanka Cricket and reaffirmed the ICC’s commitment to supporting its member boards in promoting strong governance practices, transparency, and the continued global growth of the game.
