COLOMBO (News 1st); A suspect attempting to smuggle a stock of “Kush” narcotics worth approximately Rs. 75 million into the country has been taken into custody by Sri Lanka Customs at the Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake.
The individual arrested has been identified as a 41-year-old three-wheeler driver from Dematagoda.
Customs officials stated that the drugs were concealed inside the suspect’s travel bag, packed carefully into 12 airtight parcels to avoid detection.
The total weight of the seized narcotics was 7 kilograms and 500 grams.
The suspect had arrived in Sri Lanka from Bangkok, Thailand, and has subsequently been handed over to officers of the Police Narcotics Bureau at the Katunayake Airport for further investigations, Customs officials confirmed.
