COLOMBO (News 1st); The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) has lodged formal complaints with the Ministry of Mass Media and the Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (TRC) against an electronic media institution, alleging serious and repeated irresponsible use of media that has caused significant harm to both the corporation and the country’s economy.
The CPC alleges that the media institution, by grossly misusing media freedom, has disseminated false and misleading information, resulting in damage to the reputation and operations of the corporation, as well as adverse consequences for the national economy.
In its complaint, the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation states that such actions constitute a serious violation of accepted media standards and professional ethics.
The corporation has therefore requested that the relevant authorities place the media institution under immediate regulatory supervision to address the alleged violations.
