COLOMBO (News 1st): The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation says that issues affecting thousands of fuel QR codes have now been largely resolved.
Managing Director of the CPC, Mayura Neththikumara, stated that nearly 600,000 individuals who experienced errors in their QR codes have had those issues corrected.
He added that a new system has been introduced to assist those who are still unable to update their registered mobile numbers.
Under this program, nine dedicated WhatsApp numbers, covering all provinces have been set up. Users can submit their details, which will then be verified before outdated records are cleared.
Meanwhile, the CPC has also launched a special operation to identify individuals attempting to obtain fuel by falsely claiming they do not possess a QR code.
According to Neththikumara, recent inspections carried out by CPC officials together with the police revealed that a significant number of such individuals had, in fact, already registered and obtained QR codes.
He noted that, with effect from today, inspection officers have been given the authority to verify this information on-site, ensuring that only eligible users are able to access fuel under the QR system.
