COLOMBO (News 1st); A special discussion was held to determine measures needed to ensure the uninterrupted continuation of Sri Lanka’s aviation services amid the emerging fuel crisis caused by the prevailing global war situation.

The meeting was chaired by Deputy Minister of Ports and Civil Aviation Janitha Ruwan Kodithuwakku and took place at the premises of the Civil Aviation Authority.

The primary focus of the discussion was the current level of aircraft fuel reserves and how these reserves could be managed in a more efficient and effective manner under the challenging circumstances.

It was emphasised during the meeting that, despite the prevailing difficulties, the government’s objective is to ensure that both passenger and cargo air transport services continue without disruption.

Several decisions were taken on maintaining aviation services in an orderly manner in the period ahead by exercising proper control over fuel usage and giving attention to alternative mechanisms.
