COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Ministry of Energy has officially announced that there will be no power cuts imposed until at least the end of April, citing sufficient stocks of furnace oil required for continuous electricity generation.
Addressing recent concerns, the Ministry confirmed that operations at the Norochcholai Power Plant are proceeding as scheduled.
Out of the 36 coal shipments originally ordered for the plant, 22 have already been successfully unloaded, and the supplier has provided firm assurances that the remaining shipments will be delivered without any interruptions.
The Ministry also took the opportunity to address misleading reports circulating on social media which suggest an inevitable power crisis by April.
The Ministry urges the general public to remain calm and rely only on official government communications, rather than being misled by fabricated news stories.
