Two Arrested for Illegal Diesel Hoarding in Galenbindunuwewa and Pulmoddai

COLOMBO (News 1st): A person has been arrested in Gomarangalla in Galenbindunuwewa for illegally collecting and possessing a stock of diesel.

The police stated that 10 barrels of diesel had been hidden in an animal farm of the area. 

The volume of the hidden diesel stock is 1,900 liters.

The 49-year-old suspect, a resident of Gomarangalla area, is scheduled to be produced before the Kahatagasdigiliya Magistrate's Court today.

Meanwhile, a suspect who had collected diesel without a license and sold it at higher prices in a shop in Pulmoddai town was arrested last night.

Police said the raid was carried out based on a tip-off received. 

The suspect was arrested along with 390 liters of diesel.

The 36-year-old suspect is a resident of the Arpath Nagar area.

The suspect is scheduled to be produced before the Kuchchaveli Magistrate's Court today.

In the meantime, the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation stated that fuel distribution activities will proceed as normal today.
