Ex-State Engineering Chief Released on Bail Over Sirikotha Renovation Scandal

COLOMBO (News 1st); The former Executive Director of the State Engineering Corporation of Sri Lanka, Nilu Dilhara Wijedasa, has been released on bail following her arrest by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC).

Wijedasa was taken into custody over allegations of misusing state resources and violating procedural norms in connection with renovation work carried out at Sirikotha, the headquarters of the United National Party (UNP).

The renovation, allegedly executed without proper authorization, is said to have caused a financial loss to the State Engineering Corporation amounting to Rs. 1.667 million, while reportedly providing undue benefit to the political party.

CIABOC stated that the arrest was made under corruption charges.
