COLOMBO (News 1st); The USbus, a mobile American space designed to bring knowledge, opportunity, and inspiration to youth across Sri Lanka, made its third stop at the University of Colombo, marking a key moment in the U.S. Embassy’s America 250 campaign.
Speaking to students, U.S. Ambassador Julie Chung described the initiative as a celebration of creativity, freedom, and future potential.
“This is the best time of your lives. You can be free, you can think, you can be creative and think about all that you have ahead of you,” she said.
The USbus is part of the Embassy’s broader plan to commemorate the 250th anniversary of American independence in 2026. It will travel across all nine provinces, reaching students in universities, community hubs, and rural areas — ensuring that access to opportunity is not limited by geography.
“The USbus is not just a vehicle. It’s a mobile engine of possibility,” Ambassador Chung added. “It brings American excellence and values to life, offering practical tools for students to build skills and shape their futures.”
The initiative reflects the Embassy’s commitment to youth empowerment, educational outreach, and bilateral friendship, with programming that includes workshops, cultural exchanges, and resources for academic and professional development.
As the campaign unfolds in the lead-up to July 4, 2026, the USbus will continue to serve as a symbol of shared values and a bridge between American innovation and Sri Lankan ambition.
The USBus – Mobile American Space, is an initiative by Sarvodaya Fusion in collaboration with the U.S. Embassy in Sri Lanka.
Aimed at expanding access to educational and cultural resources across the country, the program is designed to engage youth by bringing free American innovation, learning opportunities, and outreach directly to communities.
