COLOMBO (News 1st): The Court of Appeal has issued a writ order nullifying a decision by the Commissioner General of Inland Revenue relating to the imposition of Advance Personal Income Tax on members of Sri Lanka's national cricket teams.
The ruling was delivered in response to petitions filed by a group of Sri Lanka's national One-Day International and Test cricket players who challenged the tax-related decision.
The Court, however, clarified that the interim relief granted would not prejudice any future decision that may be taken by the Commissioner General of Inland Revenue in relation to the matter.
