Milad-Un-Nabi Marked Today

COLOMBO (News 1st): Milad-un-Nabi, also known as the Prophet's Birthday, falls today.

The birth of Prophet Muhammad, the founder of Islam, took place on a day like today during Rabi' al-awwal, the third month of the Islamic lunar calendar.

Prophet Muhammad, the founder of Islam who propagated the message of love and peace for all humanity, is accepted as the final messenger of Allah.

Prophet Muhammad was born in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, in 570 CE, and passed away in Medina, Saudi Arabia, in 632 CE.

Through Islam, Prophet Muhammad gifted the world a complete way of life that brings prosperity, liberation, peace, happiness, and comfort to humankind.

This year's National Milad-un-Nabi observances is being held this afternoon at Al-Hilal Central College in Negombo Periyamulla

Meanwhile, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake states that the teachings of the Prophet provide abundant guidance to fulfill our aspiration of building a cohesive society and a country where the rule of law prevails, justice is upheld, and all are treated equally.

Issuing a message in view of the Prophet's Birthday, the President stated that Islam rejects all vices that tarnish both the inner purity of humanity and the ethical fabric of society.

Therefore, the President also pointed out that the Prophet's teachings and life example provide immense support to initiatives aimed at elevating societal morality, such as the national campaign launched by the government against the menace of toxic drugs, which is growing rapidly across the country.
