12-Bore Gun Found During Balangoda Raid

COLOMBO (News 1st) - A man has been arrested in the Halpe area of Balangoda after police recovered an illegally possessed firearm from his residence.

Police said the weapon was discovered following a tip-off received by officers attached to the Crime Investigation Unit of the Samanalawewa Police Station.

During a search operation carried out at the suspect's residence, officers took into custody a 12-bore firearm that was allegedly being kept without legal authorization.

The suspect is a 52-year-old resident of the Halpe area in Balangoda.

Police stated that the suspect is due to be produced before the Balangoda Magistrate's Court.
