Nine-Year-Old Girl Killed in Crocodile Attack

COLOMBO (News 1st); A nine-year-old girl has died after being attacked and dragged away by a crocodile while bathing at the Hinukkiriyawa Wewa in the Maradankadawala area, police said.

According to police, the incident occurred while the child was bathing in the reservoir with her grandmother. During the bath, the girl was suddenly attacked by a crocodile and pulled into the water.

Following the incident, a search operation was launched by police officers together with wildlife officials. The girl’s body was later recovered during the search.

The deceased has been identified as a nine-year-old girl from the Ganewalpola area.
