The Navy confirmed that T-56 rifles, M-16 rifles, and pistols were recovered from the first vessel. Naval Spokesperson Commander Buddhika Sampath noted that several magazines were also found on board.
A consignment of drug-laden parcels was also found on board the multi-day fishing craft.
Ten suspects on board the two vessels were arrested.
The multi-day fishing trawler, reportedly transporting drugs and weapons, was taken into Naval custody in the deep seas south of the country the day before yesterday. This was the result of a special operation conducted by the Navy.
The second fishing vessel, which had arrived to assist the primary craft, was taken into Naval custody yesterday.
