Man Arrested With Grenade, Bullets And Army Uniforms In Hingurakgoda

COLOMBO (News 1st) - A suspect found in possession of a foreign-manufactured live hand grenade, 17 live bullets, additional ammunition, and several army uniforms was arrested in Hingurakgoda. 

The arrest was made following a raid carried out by officers of the Police Special Task Force (STF) based on a tip-off.

The suspect is a 46-year-old resident of Kimbulawala, Hingurakgoda.

Meanwhile, another suspect was arrested in Wellawaya for allegedly operating a firearms manufacturing facility under the guise of a factory.

STF officers recovered a locally-made shotgun, 12 live bullets, seven reloaded bullets, two T-shirts, and several tools believed to have been used to manufacture firearms.

According to information revealed during questioning, the suspect, a 61-year-old resident of Nugeyaya, Wellawaya had allegedly supplied the manufactured firearms to several individuals.
