US, Sri Lanka Talks Focus on Maritime Security and Economic Growth

COLOMBO (News 1st); U.S. Ambassador to Sri Lanka Julie Chung met with Minister of Foreign Affairs, Tourism & Foreign Employment Vijitha Herath to discuss advancing fair and balanced trade and reinforcing security cooperation between the United States and Sri Lanka.

The meeting underscored the shared commitment of both nations to safeguard regional stability, particularly in the Indo-Pacific, where open commerce and secure sea lanes are vital to prosperity. 

Ambassador Chung emphasized the importance of collaboration “from ports to people,” highlighting the multifaceted nature of U.S.–Sri Lanka relations.
