Court Allows 7-Day Detention For Manamperi

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Walasmulla Magistrate's Court has granted permission for law enforcement authorities to detain and question Sampath Manamperi for a period of seven days in connection with a major narcotics investigation.

Manamperi surrendered to the court today (17) through his legal representatives. 

He is suspected of being involved in the recent discovery of chemical substances allegedly used in the production of the illicit drug known as "Ice" (crystal methamphetamine).

The arrest relates to a recent discovery of suspicious chemicals in the Middeniya area, which authorities believe were intended for drug manufacturing purposes.

The case is scheduled to be taken up again on September 24.
