Special Investigation into Elephant Deaths

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Ministry of Environment has announced a special investigation into the deaths of wild elephants occurring outside forest reserves.

Minister Dhammika Patabendi said the investigation will be conducted with the assistance of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

He noted that the majority of recent elephant deaths have taken place outside protected areas.
